Full time post 37.5 hours a week

We are looking for a lead Interventional radiographer who will be expected to provide significant knowledge and expertise in the specialist clinical field of Interventional Imaging.

The post holder will have operational responsibility for the day to day running for the imaging apects of the Interventional service of the hospital.

Using evidenced based practice, the post holder will support the Consultant Radiologist during invasive procedures and to ensure the safe and efficient imaging of the patient under high pressure situations. The post holder will also support the department Fluoroscopy service.

Leading the other team members by example, using knowledge and experience, the post holder will promote the continuous improvement in service delivery and quality within all areas of the IR service.

The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring patient waiting times are managed and reported whilst working alongside the multidisciplinary team.

Main Duties

  • To provide the highest professional and technical specialised imaging service whilst complying with all required standards, ensuring particular attention to patient care.
  • Participation in the Departmental quality assurance and audit programmes and in implementing agreed recommendations.
  • To be actively involved in keeping up to date with all Departmental Protocols and notices and to assist in preparation of such documentation.
  • To be proactive in supporting the delivery of national targets.
  • To provide specialised knowledge and advice to patients, carers, and other members of the IR team as well as other imaging staff.
  • Responsible for taking a lead in the continuing provision of a high quality and responsive IR service, meeting regulatory requirements.
  • The post holder will have a modality overview of IR service needs, to ensure effective coordination and allocation of resources.
  • The individual will work very closely with the Radiology Service Manager and IR Lead radiologist to ensure a service planned for the future.
  • The individual will work closely with all other Superintendent Radiographers to develop and maintain cross-modality and cross-trust integration of Imaging Services, standardising protocols, appointments systems, waiting lists and rotation of radiographers throughout clinical imaging areas.
  • Manage and appraise any Band 6 radiographers who rotate through the IR suite.
  • Supervise, support and train radiographers in IR and manage any competency issues which may arise with staff who are training or have been trained

Must have:

  • HCPC
  • Good interventional skills
  • Be able to work in the UK
