Job Description

Main Responsibilities

Start up phase

Liaise with the Imaging Manager and team to drive the business including:

  • Establishment of Regional Diagnostic Imaging Services
  • Undertake clinical scanning days at various sites
  • Assist in developing Regional Revenue Targets
  • Assist with Regional Staffing requirements and capabilities
  • Assist Regional Quality Service Benchmarks

Role Purpose

  • Assist in overseeing overall clinical operations, but with particular focus on the agreed regional schedule and other regions as business dictates going forward
  • Provide leadership and assist with strategic direction, develop and manage service delivery for region(s), with a high degree of professionalism ensuring effective deployment, utilisation and control of all resources, while providing a high quality, responsive, patient focused service.
  • Contribute to the strategic, operational and business development of the business at a regional level.
  • To oversee the regional functioning of the services for patients in order to check that the requirements of the Care Quality Commission are met, including meeting the CQC Fundamental Standards at all times.

Regional Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help to recruit, select, manage, and develop the regional clinical operations team in line with the company’s objectives and procedures.
  • Maximise on opportunities to develop the business at the region level.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing and implementing radiology operational policy and ensure it is followed in all areas.
  • Build on relationships with radiologists, external partners to help promote the business.
  • Undertake clinical scanning days as the business requires including providing cover for scanning staff as required.
  • Ensure that all staff maintain a high standard of service and customer care, where service standards are met, to timescales and within available budgets.
  • Ensure the daily tasks of mobile units are completed to a high standard, completing any necessary administration accurately and timely to ensure service delivery
  • Ensure that staff are aware of and are ambassadors for the ethics of the Company as detailed in the Ethics Policy and as outlined in the Visons and Values document
  • Ensure that staff are aware of and consider environmental issues and impacts within their role
  • Ensure effective clinical training and development processes are in place for all radiology staff and maintain appropriate records, including CPD.
  • Ensure staff are fully supported if they wish to undertake volunteering opportunities, as detailed in the Volunteering Policy
  • Conduct appraisals and provide regular constructive feedback and supervision to direct reports to support their professional development.
  • Ensure that the performance management system contributes effectively to the operation of the department and to the motivation of the team.
  • Using patient feedback and radiology outcomes establish effective processes to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders including Consultants and external partners.
  • Participate in risk management processes to ensure the organisation manages risk robustly.
  • Ensure effective infection control measures adhered to at all times and all staff are appropriately trained.
  • Participate in the effective management and resolution of complaints including conducting investigations into clinical incidents and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Maintain satisfactory and safe performance of all diagnostic imaging equipment and ensure that quality assurance is regularly performed in all clinical areas and documented for audit purposes.
  • Supporting the process of training and induction for staff in the organisation.
  • Supporting the Serious Incidents and Near Misses reporting policy and procedure, including the development of plans and subsequent implementation in order to avoid repetitions.
  • Assist with the submission of formal Notifications to the CQC as and when necessary.
  • Ensuring that the staff team are informed about, and are aware of, the requirements of the CQC
  • Assist with the management of complaints received, as and when required.
  • To remain up to date with current clinical practice within own profession. Maintaining HCPC registration and up to date and accurate CPD records.
  • Work within all the organisation’s policies and procedures including those relating to information governance, clinical governance, health and safety, safeguarding, ethics, environmental impacts and equality and diversity.


  • Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
  • Management / supervisory experience
  • Outstanding leadership skills
  • Ability to lead, motivate support and develop employees.
  • Confident decision maker who can make decisions.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and make recommendations, in order to identify business development opportunities.
  • Knowledge of healthcare service sector with systems and processes used.
  • Diplomacy skills to enhance client, customer and supplier relations,
  • Clear Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate at Enhanced Level.
